We want to do Gladstone’s on our own because that puts us into direct communication with every reader of the book and we can sell direct to them and skip middle people.
That’s powerful stuff.
We’re going to launch Gladstone’s in 2013 and get it going to where Armand can pick up speed and get going more as a full time job and try to turn it into something that can pay the bills.
We’ll have a reprint of volume 1 in oversized album format as a hardcover, and then series 2 and 3.
We’re also going to try to raise a budget to do about four one shot adventures written and drawn by guest creators who are popular so you get more gladstone’s throughout the year.
Armand also designed PVC toys that we’ll be selling around March.
What’s cool is we can make toys, shirts, posters, and do whatever we want. So we really want to turn it into something where we can make it our jobs and be our own bosses.
That’s awesome.
My goal as the writer is to write five volumes, put everything I have into it in terms of energy, and completely burn myself out having given it my all. Getting to 5 is going to be a lot of work but also so much fun along the way.
Then we’re going to turn it over to new creative teams and plot the main storyline. The cast will change up a bit with the characters you know orbiting the main storyline and coming in and out.
The final point of the story where I leave off, opens a huge can of worms, and it’s really the most exciting place a story could start. Then after that we’re planning on having other creative teams come in and take over and have the reigns but be involved so it keeps getting better and better.
Series 3 is a huge Battle Royale and Armand and I had to get that out of our systems. It’s great.
For AJB it’s been a while and I’m not sure when it will be out. Dan is married now and has kids and is working in animation. He has to go with what pays the bills and AJB doesn’t pay anything. It’s 75% done the last I’ve seen. It does live up to the title of ‘Amazing’ and has one of the most memorable openings to a comic book ever.
