Dear Comics,

Time to retire the term ‘Indie Comics’ for good.

The term ‘Indie Comics’ implies that we’re less than ‘Big 2 Comics’. 

The reality of it is that we’re equal to if not so much more.

Retire the term ‘Indie Comics’.  Don’t use it anymore.  Instead I propose…

‘Creator Centered Comics’

Or

‘Creator Driven Comics’

While we’re at it, let’s retire the term ‘Big 2’ because it’s part of the problem when framing the narrative of ‘Creator Centered Comics’.  ‘Creator Driven Comics’ are equal to them in every way imaginable.  So, change ‘Big 2’ to what you like.

This isn’t an Us Vs. Them and I’m glad people are reading comics and loving comics.  The term ‘Indie’ gets under my skin because comics are comics.  At the end of the day getting as many people as we can to read and spread the love for comics and the medium is really what it’s about.

GO COMICS!!!  Thank you for your time.  Spread the word.
