Man of War features heavily in the third book and a few other characters from the background in book one come to the forefront. He’ll feature in the book but he and the speed character aren’t fulltime members of the Gladstone’s crew. That said around book 6 there will be kind of another core Gladstone’s group with some new characters and the current group orbiting and coming in and out of their story.
More Gladstone’s very soon. We may be doing a digital subscription to raise money for each digital issue. The colors and letters on each 22 page section total $1,000 upwards and that’s with Armand and myself working for the love of it (we do it for free and haven’t made money, but plugged in money hand over fist to put the first book out).
Comics are expensive to make.
We want to get the next two books wrapped and then go to print on them at the same time as Hardcovers, along with a reprint of the first book.

Yes! There will be a chance to pick it up this upcoming month, where I adjust for underestimating international orders.
Yes, there will be another opportunity for those that missed Sullivan’s Sluggers to pick it up this next month. I was a bone head and hugely underestimated international shipping because I saw another Kickstarter that was doing huge numbers at the time, and it said “International Orders Please Add $10”, and I said to myself “They know what they’re doing” and copied it FOOLISHLY. So lesson to be learned, look up the shipping costs by weight for international next time if you’re doing a Kickstarter. I’m going to do an adjustment Kickstarter to help out with international costs, so that I can eat the difference and not ask for more money from international backers, but to ship for the low low original price of $10 per book. But it’s only for the US, and the other books are going to post first.
Hipp is married with babies and also an art director in animation. So he’s very busy these days.
I’ve been wanting to wrap the Amazing Joy Buzzards forever but the book makes NO MONEY at all and it never did. I gave up pestering Dan about it because it’s like asking someone to work for a year on something that they never get paid for and no sane person would do that. Only in comics.
I know he’s been working on the second volume and it’s probably about 75% done.
It’s the most awesome thing ever too and sorry to tease you but it is.
To answer your question, I don’t know. Hopefully one day Dan appears and says it’s finished but I gave up asking about it because he’s got to make money but AJB makes no money and costs so much money and time and energy.
I love it as a book and the characters and I’d like to see it wrapped up in my lifetime (or after).
NICE!!!
Rob. Your question is good and broad hahaha, so I don’t know where to begin because it’s such a wide question. If you have Skype I’m SmithasaurusRex and I’d be glad to talk with you on there for a bit and answer all of your questions.
For other people who I was going to do office hours with a while back, I got Dengue Fever, which is caused by mosquitos and is the worst thing ever. So that pushed back office hours, where I can answer questions for people, but I want to track down those people and make them up.
We would love that too or a set of films. :) I’d also like to see a video game like Marvel Vs. Capcom.
I think a lot of creators pray for a film option so that they can pay their bills, (which is normal because comics don’t make much selling directly in shops for creators) but what’s next for Gladstone’s is that we’re going to do our best to turn it into our own jobs (I guess like they say in ‘The Social Network’).
Then if the film stuff comes along we can make the best deal possible and that would be epic and awesome.
We’re jumping into it for next year with the reprint and the next two books out, a card game, and action figures, hoping it’s a huge success and getting Armand doing the book more full time as his job and doing a couple of books a year. I really want to do like an Eastman and Laird combo (But sexier. Because it’s us. Just kidding, or am I?) Or Ben 10 where we keep the rights and have better leverage but every kid has the shirt and the toys.
I think we’ll pull it off, or at least be a little closer to it this year.
Gladstone’s is the book I want to write forever and Armand is fun to talk with and hang out with online throughout the day to talk Gladstone’s.
